Bob's Chicks

Many years ago there were three very beautiful girls with excellent credentials in criminal investigation who became...

Charlie's Angels

And then in November 2000, their roles where recreated in a movie that both guys and girls could enjoy, again called Charlie's Angels. The girls could watch three independent, aggressive and beautiful females slap guys upside the head and get into and out of danger themselves. The guys could watch three beautiful females... It's done pretty well at the box office and critics and moviegoers alike think it's good escapist fun. The TV show from which the movie borrows its name ran in the late '70s and showcased these three bright, sexy and resourceful women.

Charlie's Angels

The show ran for several seasons and evolved though different casts. We asked our site visitors which set of girls from the detective agency would they hire to investigate the "Case of the Shrinking Bikini". I don't know whether they chose between angels, detectives or plain knockout chicks. Perhaps they were also thinking of the possibility that the case would proceed to a point where a strip search would be required!

Original TV Cast

Second TV Cast

Third TV Cast

Final TV Cast

Movie Cast

The two favourites are clear. Amost head to head at the winning post were the Original Cast and the Movie Cast [which was the favourite by a nose]. Have you heard of the Jump the Shark web site? It collects votes and suggestions for the defining points for various shows at which they began that downhill slide to oblivion. You should check out what they have to say about Charlie's Angels.

And to the angels themselves...

Well, thank the gods, that we had more access to the angels than Charlie had over his speaker phone. I'm sure many wished for something more intimate yet... especially when they reviewed all the actresses that played these angels to choose their favourite for our poll.

Coincidently those who responded to our poll chose three angels above all the others... the ideal cast. I've created a page for each of them so that you can see my reviewed lists containing the best web sites devoted to them. The favoured angels are Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and Lucy Liu. My reviews for the rest of the angels are here below. Since some of these angels have strayed in some definitely non-angelic preserves... that might even be categorized as devilish, I've resorted to my usual warning sign that looks like this -> to alert you when the link appears.

Jaclyn Smith

Cheryl Ladd

Lucy Liu

Cameron Diaz

Cameron is almost as popular as Lucy Liu as an addition to Charlie's Angels. She first came to the public's attention in the film The Mask with Jim Carrey, which was followed by several memorable movies like There's Something About Mary. I've found many many sites and many pictures to enjoy and here are the best of them.

Mature Content Warning

Cameron Diaz Galéria - Despite what Tim (of Tim's Cameron Diaz Page, whose link I'm not going to provide) says, his site is not the best Cameron Diaz site on the web, not by a long shot. The Cameron Diaz Galéria site is THE best Cameron Diaz site and is right up there as one of the best celebrity sites going. Some people are going to look at the .hu at the end of this URL and say, "It'll all be in Hungarian." Well, that's partly true - the extensive biography (all 11 parts) is in Hungarian as are the cover stories for the magazines in the Cover girl section, some of the movie storylines in the Movies section and the audio interview index in the Extras section. Everything else is in English, that is somewhat broken, but completely understandable. One doesn't have to understand the language to recognise a good site. Besides, there are the pictures and movies. There are over 2300 images, half of which are vidcaps and the rest are photos and magazine covers. The vidcaps are listed by movie in the Movies section, which also includes trailers, storylines, interesting facts about the movie and sometimes links and photos from the premiere. The photos are gathered in the Images section and well presented in a gallery display indexed by page (Warning: Some pages contain nudity). The thumbnail expands in a pop-up window if Javascript is enabled and a new window if not. The Extras section contains lots of posters, movie trailers (various formats), audio interviews (Real Audio format) and video interviews (various formats). Finally there are a host of articles (in English) in the News section for the past couple of years. This is one of the best sites I've seen and the webmaster keeps it very current and topical. I give this site my whole-hearted endorsement.

Cameron Diaz - The contents of this site are displayed entirely in a pop-up window, so Javascript must be enabled before entering. Now what do you get? A 14-part biography is displayed in Details along with a current filmography and a short list of quotes (Profiles were under construction at the time of my review). The Multimedia section contains more than 1000 photos (Warning: Pictures contain some nudity), somewhat awkwardly indexed, and thumbnails are expanded in the same frame. This section also includes one audio clip (Real Audio format) and a Download Area with Winamp skins, wallpapers and software (Movie Clips were under construction at the time of my review). The Today section is supposed to display a daily photo, but hasn't been updated since 26 July 2000. The Information section has recent news about Cameron and questions can be asked about her, but the rest is more about the site than anything else and should probably be in the "This site" section. "This site" has just what you'd expect, details about the site, a Guestbook and e-mail. It also has a Forum and Links that should be in the Information section. Despite my issues, it is a pretty good Cameron Diaz reference site. The site has links to the Cameron Diaz Internet Archive, which is another pretty good site, although on a much smaller scale.

Cameron Diaz Internet Home - Why are all the best Cameron Diaz sites in Europe? At the time of my review the site had last been updated in August 2000 (although the Photo of the Week is from September), but still seems to be a good reference site. The Biography is under construction, but the Profile contains some good background material (her legs are "cool" and she hates Mariah Carey) and insight can be gained from Interests and Cameron's Quotations. The Filmography section contains over 500 vidcaps from most of her movies indexed by the movie, but the Photogallery section is rather small with only 172 images and there are 74 thumbnails in Cover Images. Audio Clips contains over 180 clips from various movies and interviews in Real Audio and mp3 formats. Movie Clips is mostly under construction, but there are some trailers in various formats.

Best of Cameron Diaz - On first impression this site looks like you're getting sold something, and links are available to purchase Cameron's films and books about her, but the site also has the largest vidcap gallery I've ever seen. There are over 2000 vidcaps from six of Cameron's films, from The Mask (including her song & dance number and the brilliantly choreographed leg-crossing and hair-flipping scenes) to There's Something About Mary. Also found here are an extensive biography, short filmography (with links to the vidcaps) and vital stats. There are no working links in the Media section and the Store has nothing to do with Cameron. Enjoy the pictures.

Kate Jackson

Despite being considered brainy, Kate has a certain down-home type sexuality. I think one might enjoy her company and have a good time.

Christos' Kate Jackson Site - This guy Christos is a serious Kate Jackson fan. Evidence: He has a list of Kate's videos (movies, television and commercials) and he owns more of them than not. A complete fan, Christos has managed the site for several years and maintains an extensive personal collection of magazine covers, photos, vidcaps from all of Kate's work, videos and collectibles. His devotion to Kate and details of her life can be demonstrated by the Filmography, which is indexed by feature films and TV films/series right down to appearances and commercials. The Galleries contain photos and vidcaps of Kate's series from Dark Shadows to Scarecrow & Mrs. King. These images and those for magazine covers, video boxcovers and bizarre stuff (collectibles) are quite extensive and number almost 600. Christos also has sections on Kate's biography, interviews, a chatline transcript and a page listing other Kate fans (very well done). The site is very well done and kept current by Christos with news about Kate and the site.

Kate Jackson - Beauty & Brains - AngelWeb maintains sites for each of the TV Angels and this is Kate's. The biography appears to be personally written, which is an indication of the webmaster's commitment to the subject, and is followed by a pretty interesting trivia page. The best thing about the site are the 152 headshots (a feature of an AngelWeb site) and publicity photos from her record 7 TV series. I like the headshot approach because it appears to be rather unique compared to other sites. The final section is an episode guide for Scarecrow & Mrs. King. It probably would have made more sense to include an episode guide for Charlie's Angels.

Wanda's Kate Jackson Web Page - Another good fansite, although not quite as extensive as Christos' site. Wanda does keep the site current and maintains a short biography and filmography. Probably the best thing about the site are the over 600 images, mostly vidcaps from Kate's TV movies, of which there are many.

Charlie's Angels - Angelnet. This is a pretty good Charlie's Angels' fansite. Each of the TV Angels has a section with a write-up on their stint on Charlie's Angels (including the best episode), biography, filmography, small photo gallery and interviews. Kate's biography is pretty detailed, but the photo gallery only has 13 thumbnails and there are currently no interviews.

Farrah Fawcett

I still remember my old Farrah Fawcett poster with nostalgia... the same kind of nostalgia Steve Martin talks about; but I think her Playboy cover is a better shot. After Charlie's Angels she played a number of bimbo roles until she started doing serious stuff, like the Burning Bed. Then Playboy came calling again and she did a video that displayed her artistic talents. She finally had two memorable appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, in which she showed her comic genius. Quite a career. Some of the following sites encapsulate that career very well.

Farrah Fawcett - Golden Haired Goddess - This is probably one of the better AngelWeb sites as it is perfectly designed for Farrah Fawcett, best known for the trend-setting hairstyles she had early in her career. The galleries contain 160 headshots showing the various hairstyles Farrah had and also the beauty that went with the hair. The pictures appear to cover Farrah's public life, from Logan's Run to her Playboy video (no nudity). The site also contains a personally written biography, which I like, and a very good trivia section (what if she became a Catholic nun?).

The Farrah Fawcett Picture Gallery - This is the place to be if you're just looking for pictures. There are over 200 tiny thumbnails of Farrah on four pages. The thumbnails are so small that it has to be expanded to see the picture. Well, I exaggerate, but not by much. The selection is pretty good and includes some favourites, like her first Playboy cover.

The Farrah Page. This is a pretty simple site that might look like a fansite, but probably doesn't have quite enough content to make it so. There are several sections on Farrah Fawcett - the woman, the actress, the legend (Wow!) and it does contain 41 images from various stages in her career. I have listed the site because it explains how to create The Farrah Hairstyle, which can never go out of style.

Mature Content Warning

Farrah Fawcett - Farrahdise Isle - Quite a stretch for the title, it is one of David M. Nienow's Film Femme Fatale series. Primarily a picture site, it starts off with Farrah's famous poster followed by a Public Image Gallery with 179 images of Farrah in all manner of poses, some of which are very sexy. Since I came to review the whole site I moved beyond the Film & TV Credits and went to the Private Adult Gallery where 25 nude images of Farrah are found, including an old favourite of Farrah lying full-length on the beach.

Drew Barrymore

I believe Dreams of Drew is the best Drew site on the 'Net. It has lots of content, including appearances, quotes, biography, filmography, stories about meeting Drew and an extensive list of articles. The multimedia sections are no less extensive with about 400 pictures (Javascript must be enabled), audio clips, 34 video clips (in both Mpeg and QuickTime formats), tattoo close-ups (the tattoo on her back is missing), fan art, screensavers and wallpapers. There is also a Chat Room, a Message Board and some Fun & Games. Rounding out the list is a pretty good Store index. The girl who runs the site tries to keep it current with information she gathers from many sources. One of those sources may have been Until There Was Drew which she said on 25 December was the best Drew site on the 'Net, but is now closing because Drew is taking control of some of the domains using her name.

Actually Until There Was Drew has simply moved domains. It is probably the second best site after Dreams of Drew. Run by a growing staff of people, the site contains mostly pictures (almost 300) and an extensive list of articles, but very little background information. I believe this site is primarily used by a group of Drewbies (who reside in Drewbieville) to have someplace to go and talk about their favourite topic - Drew Barrymore.

Mature Content Warning

Rounding out my top picks of Drew sites are two that have similar content as the first two, but with just a little extra. Absolute Drew Barrymore is primarily a picture site, but does have a short biography and filmography. Besides pictures of Drew's tattoos, there are several galleries of photos, one of which displays nudes of both Drew and Jaid, her mother. Now perhaps I shouldn't be telling you this, but the Adult Check ID page can be bypassed by starting here. Altogether there are over 330 thumbnails, including over 80 nudes.

Mature Content Warning

The final site could actually be a very good one, except that a lot of it is under construction and appears to have been so since May 1999. The only section in The Ice Cube that seems to be mostly intact is the Gallery where over 450 thumbnails can be found, grouped into 13 indexed galleries. The last gallery contains nudes of Drew and Jaid, each on their own pages.

Tanya Roberts

I was kind of surprised that Tanya didn't show higher in our voting. Having been the last Angel is no reason for not having voted for this beautiful blonde/brunette, blue-eyed, husky-voiced little vixen. Does "Sheena, Queen of the Jungle" and the waterfall scene mean nothing? Anyway, I found three sites that I chose to represent Tanya.

The first site I've chosen for you is part of AngelWeb and is called Tanya Roberts: Dangerous Curves. It contains 56 headshots of Tanya and a biography. The remaining two sites are of an adult nature and deal with Tanya's dalliance with Playboy and sex scenes.

Mature Content Warning

The best Tanya site I found is from Tanya Roberts - Angelic Femme Fatale from David M. Nienow's Femme Fatale series. It contains 100 vidcaps from "Sins of Desire" (including the lesbian scene with Delia Sheppard) and 6 thumbnails in the Public Image Gallery. The site's Private Adult Gallery requires an Adult Check ID and contains images from Tanya's Playboy pictorial and more vidcaps from "Sins of Desire".

Mature Content Warning

The Iconophile contains 49 thumbnails and two movie clips for Tanya, both in QuickTime format. The General Clip is a 1:50 clip of Tanya with Delia Sheppard in the movie "Sins of Desire". An Adult Check ID is required to view the adult material. The Adult Clip is also a sex scene from "Sins of Desire" and 3:00 in length. Unfortunately, both screen images are rather small. The pictures include images from Tanya's Playboy pictorial.

Shelley Hack
Perhaps the least known of the Angels (and the one with the fewest sites), Shelley was seen in ads for "Charlie" perfume early in her career - an odd coincidence. Since Charlie's Angels, she has appeared in many TV series and movies. The best link I've found is to Shelley Hack - A Touch of Class, which is an AngelWeb site. AngelWeb has a site for each of the original TV Angels.
